Happy Sunday!

Recently a fellow blogger wanted to feature some OPI nail art for an upcoming post. After reading “The Story of Essie Nail Polish” she had written on Shop and, I loved that she chose to feature some of my favourite OPI looks including my Euro Centrale Dotticurein her piece The Story of OPI!

Check out The Story of OPI for a little polish history lesson by the blogger known as The Shopper, and don’t forget to like her blog! The Shopper writes about shopping, features store and beauty reviews and brings you both high- and low-cost product options! Love!

Today I have for you one of two of Glitter Gal’s latest collections, a colour story called Celebrate – Sydney Style. Comprised of varying hues from soft pastel to vibrant to deep, the six gorgeous cremes should provide something for everyone.  Swatches after the intro from Glitter Gal:

Glitter Gal Australia have created a crème formula that is like no other with superior Glitter Gal ingredients with Australian names. We have released 2 colour stories consisting of twelve colours. The two collections are:

· Holiday in Oz

· Celebrate – Sydney Style

In addition to the two collection, Glitter Gal is introducing three new unique “phenomenal” top coats:

· Gloss Boss – 15ml

How many times you have been asked for a top coat that doesn’t take away the holographic effects – well here it is! A top coat that can be used on crèmes or used to enhance holographic and special effect formulas. It is a high impact gloss top coat with a gel like finish. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST TOP COAT EVER!!!!!

· Galaxy Holo – 10ml  This has the most outstanding holographic effects.

· Dorothy’s Revenge – 10ml  A holographic, red based sparkle top coat. Can be worn alone as well as over crèmes.

A beautiful, soft peach shade, Tan Line is just this side of a nude, with a pale peachy finish. No application issues and I absolutely love this shade’s muted peach hue! Two coats in the shade, with Gloss Boss top coat (more on that Gloss Boss later):

GlitterGal Tan Line

Another soft shade, Booze Bus, a pale pastel lilac shade. As with many white-based shades, this one needed a bit of care, but I had zero application issues. Below are two coats, no top coat:

GlitterGal BoozeBus

And Booze Bus with Glitter Gal’s new holo top coat, Galaxy Holo, and finished with Gloss Boss top coat:

GlitterGal BoozeBus-GalaxyHolo
The Galaxy Holo top coat is a clear topper filled with irregular shards of holographic pigment that reflect in beautiful, rainbow-like colours in direct light. Click on this macro to see the full-size pic:

GlitterGal BoozeBus-GalaxyHolo MacroThe effect is much more noticeable in sun but unfortunately, no sun on this Canadian winter day…

She’s Cactus a bright mint green that can veer every so slightly into neon territory. A gorgeous soft green if you like greens!

GlitterGal ShesCactus

I thought She’s Cactus and Tart Yourself Up made for a very beautiful combination:

GlitterGal ShesCactus_TartAcct

Tart Yourself Up is a vivid medium blue shade, and probably my second favourite of the bunch. Blue is my favourite colour, and though I don’t wear it often on my nails unless it’s dark, I can’t help but gravitate towards it! Tart had an amazing application and was almost a one-coater. Below are two coats with an accent of Galaxy Holo on the ring finger, and Gloss Boss top coat on all nails. See the large bottle of Gloss Boss: (I love the large square bottles!)

GlitterGal TartYourselfUp

She’ll be Right is a dark, vampy (yes, vampy!) purple crelly (jelly/cream), which as you know, makes for an incredible shiny finish. She’ll be Right’s formula was a bit on the thick side, and could drag if you went over an area too often, but well worth it for this in my opinion! Probably one of my favourites of the collection… Two coats, with an accent of Galaxy Holo top coat, and no top coat:

GlitterGal ShellbeRight-Galaxy

Off Your Rocker, a bright pink, had an amazing formula like Tart Yourself Up, being almost a one-coater (seriously, you can just do one coat and top coat it but I usually do two for consistency). Another favourite:

GlitterGal OffYourRocker

A few words about Gloss Boss: Though not a traditional “quick dry,” Gloss Boss truly dried incredibly fast to the touch, and to a mirror-like, gel-like finish. I personally LOVE gel-like top coats as they provide a thicker, glossier look without bulking up your nail polish! And they have this jelly feel to them that I love!

Glitter Gal is Big 5-free (Camphor, TFR, DPB, Formaldehyde, and Toluene), cruelty-free, long-wearing and fast-drying, and has become famous for their linear holographic polishes.

Glitter Gal is available directly from Glitter Gal’s online shop (they now ship from within the US to save on shipping!), or from online shops Llarowe, Harlow & Co, or check out the full list of stockists here. Glitter Gal’s entire range is now available in a 10ml size, or the premium 15 ml bottles.

Happy Friday!

I have had a few lovely days of vacation, just hanging out at home (I LOVE to cuddle up, be warm at home when it’s cold out), and really wanted to do something fun on my nails before heading back to work… My nail art started off with some stamping, and that did not go so well, so I changed gears and decided to try something new on my nails. I think I needed a palette cleanser because I’ve been craving a nice, white polish base, so I started with two coats of Butter LONDON’s gorgeous crisp white Cotton Buds.

ButterLondon_CottonBuds base

One of my favourite types of art is abstract – the more colourful the lines, the better. I’ve also had my eye on the recent watercolour nail art trend, so beautiful and bright… What finally pushed me to give abstract nail art a try was The Nail Polish Challenge’s gorgeous “inspired by art work” manicure that I spotted on Instagram. My hope was that it would turn out even almost as nice as hers!

I knew the perfect polishes to try this with would be Dior’s new Trianon Spring 2014 colours.

Once my white base was completely dry, I started brushing on little wisps of colour with a nearly-dry brush (I wiped the brush on the bottle neck until there was almost no polish left), starting with Porcelaine, the pale blue. In order, I then added strokes of Bouquet, Bloom, and finished up with a few dabs of the iridescent Perlé (note that Perlé actually provides a matte finish but I applied top coat which made it shinier). Et voila!

Dior_Vernis S14 Trianon Abstract Nailart3

You can see the little iridescent areas in the macro shot (click to see full size image):

Dior_Vernis S14 Trianon Abstract Nailart

So simple, but I was blown away. Dior’s Trianon colours are perfect over this white ‘canvas’ and I could not be more happy with my first go at this!

Dior_Vernis S14 Trianon Abstract Nailart2

I am almost inspired to paint this on a real canvas!

These gorgeous Dior Vernis shades will be released shortly, on January 15th! For more information (no shipping available to Canada), head to or shop online at!

Happy New Year everyone! Can you believe that 2014 is already here?

Yesterday I rounded up some of my favourites for you, including my top ten polishes and top ten nail art looks. Today I will share some of my favourite beauty and hair care products! Believe me when I say it was tough to narrow them down to just a few. Hope you enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them, and let me know in the comments what some of your favourites are!!

This year I finally tried Butter LONDON’s Lippy, a liquid lipstick/gloss hybrid, and fell in love. My favourite of them was Wine Gums, second from left below.

Two products that  I cannot live without are from my manicure essentials post: cuticle oil, like Qtica’s amazing Solid Gold and a cuticle eraser stick like the one below. (Get both at Nail Polish Canada.) Another great cuticle cream is Lemony Flutter from Lush!

SolidGold Cuticleeraser

A product I was excited to try this year, and absolutely cannot live without now, was Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour® Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm. I use this product religiously before bed, and it has helped so much, especially through the winter months. Speaking of which, it’s time to hit the EA counter for a backup….

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is another must-have, not only because of the non-greasy texture that helps your skin look refreshed every morning, but because of its delicious, soft, natural essential oil scent. I literally inhale deeply as I apply this each evening – dare I say it is intoxicating?

Kiehls-Midnight-Recovery Con

Another new line I had the pleasure of trying this year was Kevin Murphy, an Australian hairstylist’s innovative hair care line. My favourite was the Young.Again.Masque, a deep conditioning treatment that my processed hair just loves. Another great product with a delicious, soft scent!

If you have long, especially chemically-processed hair, you must know that daily washing is a no-no. Dry shampoos are what saves us, and two I absolutely love are göt2b’s Rockin’ it Dry Shampoo and OSiS+ Refresh Dust by Schwarzkopf Professional! Both come in a handy spray bottle (so nice for keeping one in your gym bag), and both bodify your hair in the process. OSiS+ was even released in a triple-size bottle and was named “best dry shampoo” in Salon Magazine’s 2013 Reader’s Choice Awards!

g2b_RI_CAN_DryS_HRNWSKP-Osis-RefreshDust-TextShamp1One more hair product favourite this year was BC Bonacure Oil Miracle Finishing Treatment. Offered in regular and light versions and containing Marula and Argan oils, I never skip applying this to towel-dried hair. It helps protect your hair from heat styling, and moisturizes those pesky ends. And again, it smells so amazing!

I confess a love for… Dior. 2013 saw Dior launch the incredible Diorshow Fusion Mono eyeshadows, single pots of a gel-mousse eyeshadow formula that can be used wet or dry… and when used wet, they leave behind a metallic, high-shine, incredible finish. I am head-over heels! (Think it would be wrong to collect the other 4 metallics that I don’t have?)

And speaking of Dior… are you a Dior Addict? With the Mystic Metallics launch, Dior added a few more Dior Addict Gloss shades, including the lovely, nude yet sparkly Charm. These glosses are phenomenal for the range of shades that are offered, from wisps of colour to saturated hues that smell amazing, apply and wear phenomenally, and best of all, offer a non-sticky finish. Absolute favourite!

Just a couple of months ago I discovered Dior’s Instant Gentle Cleansing Oil, applied to a wet or dry face to dissolve all traces of makeup, including pesky eye makeup. Rated as one of InStyle’s Best Summer Skincare Products for 2013, it is a godsend, allowing me to rub my makeup off and not leaving behind any oiliness. Love!

Finally, another new discovery for me was the Lip Glow from Dior – a lip balm that hydrates and also enhances the natural colour of your lips (in its original pink formula)! Below is the newest addition to the Lip Glow family, a Coral shade to be launched on January 15th!

I hope you enjoyed my 2013 Favourites posts!

What are some of your favourite beauty products?

Hello all and Happy New Year to those of you that have already welcomed 2014!! For the rest of us, I can’t believe another year has come to an end, bringing me to almost two full years of blogging and obsessing over nail polish, makeup, and other beauty products. (That is a lot of obsession!) It was also a year that brought me my own polish shade – more on that below.

To wrap up the year, I thought I would bring you some of my favourites from 2013. (Polishes in part 1, some of the other favourites will be in part 2 as this will be a picture-heavy post.)

How can I have a “favourites” list and not include my go-to nude/white alternative, OPI’s My Vampire is Buff? MVIB has quickly become a cult favourite, at least in the nail polish community, as many of us not only wear this beautiful bisque shade alone, but love to use it for nail art.

And speaking of nail art, this was the year I ventured into the somewhat terrifying “nail art” territory, and found that I can actually nail (sorry, couldn’t resist) some cute looks!  Though hard to narrow down, my Top Ten Faves include MVIB and Essie The Girls are Out

MVIB with Zoya’s Josie….

…can’t leave out the Euro Centrale dotticure I tried (I love the entire Euro Centrale collection!)…

…a cute jelly sandwich using Nicole by OPI and OPI’s Funny Bunny that even Nicole by OPI loved!  (you must know I simply adore jelly sandwiches!)…

…another NOPI, two actually, together for an alternative French mani (also seen here on this Must Follow Canadian Nail Bloggers article!)…

…some snow nail art with Zoya’s PixieDust Sunshine

…a glitter gradient (my easy go-to nail art) using piCture pOlish’s Blogger over OPI’s Eurso Euro

…my first foray into leopard spots using the stunning Zoya Cashmeres & Satins collections…

…my entry into the NOPI and Prom Canada Prom Nail Art challenge

…and last but not least, my spring gradient using Dior’s brand new Dior Vernis Bouquet!

Dior_Vernis S14 BouquetGradient2

This was really hard to narrow down, as I have really LOVED many polish shades this year, but here are nine more of my favourite shades this year, including the amazing Selena from Nicole by OPI

…these looks are actually two polishes: Ozotic Beam 907 over Nubar’s Jaded, both spectacular alone and even more together…

…the gorgeous Rare Bear from Colors by Llarowe, a brand launched only this year but hugely successful…

…as well as Smooth Criminal from CbL...

…OPI’s Neon mini-set was spectacular, especially Pink Outside the Box!! (still hoping for a full-size, OPI) 😉 ….

…a bright but wearable, gorgeous orange from Zoya, Thandie

…the incredible Pink of Hearts duo from OPI (for an amazing cause – Breast Cancer Awareness!)…

…Dior’s entry into magnetic polishes, Dior Vernis Mystic Magnetics was a glamorous take on magnetics (see some of my other Dior Vernis favourites here and here)….

…and OPI’s Ski Slope Sweetie, a huge LOVE for me…

…and my favourite polish, as well as a huge accomplishment for me as a blogger, my very own piCture pOlish collaboration shade, Bewitch!! (Thanks to the amazing girls at piCture pOlish!)

Thanks for reading my second Favourites list! Hope you enjoyed this, and look for part 2, which will include some non-polish favourites!

Happy New Year!!!

happy new year 2014source

Yesterday I shared with you Dior’s Trianon collection for Spring 2014, a collection of beautiful pastel shades with bright pops of colour. Although quite chilly in Toronto, today’s beautiful sunny day inspired me to reach for the coral, peach Dior Vernis in Bouquet… and what better way to add some pop to your life than with a gradient?

Here is the gorgeous Bouquet sponged over OPI’s My Vampire is Buff, my go-to base for nail art (and the perfect shade if you don’t love white):

Dior_Vernis S14 BouquetGradientHow absolutely pretty is Bouquet?

Dior_Vernis S14 BouquetGradient3Dior_Vernis S14 BouquetGradient2(Don’t mind the new nubbins. After a small chip, I filed them all down for a nice break.)

Don’t forget to check out Dior Vernis in Porcelaine and Perle in yesterday’s post, if you missed it!

I absolutely cannot wait to wear the Dior Vernis Trianon shades – the colours are pure perfection and make me think of sunny days ahead. Dior Vernis has quickly become a favourite in terms of colour choices, wear and durability, and that shine is amazing! All four new shades are available in limited release beginning in mid-January.

For more information (no shipping available to Canada), head to! and shop online at!

What do you think of my summery gradient? 🙂
