The Cardiff Coast Sweater was fairly easy to dream up. Just feel and swatch some Cardiff Cashmere yarn and you will probably dream of something cloudy and soft to make yourself. But don’t worry, I’ve saved you the first step and created the dreamiest summer nights sweater ever!
My new favourite sweater, feeling light as air and soft as a whisper on your skin, looks complicated but is fairly easy to knit. Want to try your first lace pattern? Try the Cardiff Coast Sweater! The floral lace looks more complicated than it is, and I promise, it is fairly easy to knit! It’s also a great way to play with colour: add stripes in garter stitch and floral lace for softness and added texture.
This is also my first collaboration with La Maillerie, a gorgeous LYS (local yarn store) in Laval, Quebec! I met the lovely La Maillerie ladies at Knit City Toronto, and fell in love with Cardiff Cashmere yarns on the spot. I purchased some yarns to play with, and eventually dreamed up the Cardiff Coast Sweater. The amazing La Maillerie team was more than excited to partner with me and this exciting collaboration was born!
This lightweight sweater is the perfect WIP to take out with you: worked one panel (or one sleeve) at a time, it’s knitted flat and you can use straight or circular knitting needles.
As always, this a size-inclusive knitting pattern available in sizes XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL, to fit bust sizes from 29 – 58” or 74 – 147 cm! It is designed to be worn with 3 – 4″ (7.5-10 cm) of positive ease, becoming the perfect slightly oversized airy sweater.
