Dior Trianon Spring Printemps 2014

Continuing on in with its Versailles-inspired looks, this time from the 18th century Petite Trianon of Marie-Antoinette, Dior brings us the Trianon Collection for Spring 2014.

She is fascinating… possessing a porcelain complexion. And on her cheeks, a burst of blush catches the light, proclaiming the radiance of her face. For Spring 2014, pop shades are refreshed by the delicacy of porcelain whites and powdery pastels for a fresh, edgy look.

Rosy cheeks are sculpted with panache with Diorblush Trianon Edition in Corail Bagatelle (763), a beautiful and universally flattering coral shade. Limited edition, $44 Cdn.

Eye shadows are matte with a dense finish. The new Diorshow Fusion Mono Matte blends into the skin for seamless application, leaving an ultra-matte finish. Subtly powdery and graced with monochromatic intensity, eyes defy fashion in beige (Songe), pink (Fantaisie), chocolate (Mirage), mauve (Céleste – limited edition), and black (Nocturne), with two finishes:
Blend in with fingertips for soft fusion, or apply using the included brush applicator for intense fusion, a more extreme pigmented look. Available mid-January, $32 Cdn.

Blend a halo of colour around the eye. Bet on monochrome or play with clashing harmonies. Blend sugared-almond pink, baby blue and golden pale yellow… be audacious. Adorned with the emblematic bow, a beaded ribbon and the Dior signature, the spring, limited edition of the 5 Couleur palette take a delightful dive into the world of the Petit Trianon. This gorgeous retro palette, almost too pretty to use!, will be available in limited release, $62 Cdn.

A play on texture inspired by the porcelain and china of the 18th century, the Dior Vernis Trianon Edition nail lacquer looks matte on application before revealing a completely new pearl-frost effect. Out in the garden, Dior explores the seasonal floral hues of cornflower in Porcelaine, soft peach (Bouquet), and pure fuchsia (Bloom). All limited edition, $26 Cdn.

Here is a first look at Dior Vernis in Porcelaine, with two coats applied:

It is truly a gorgeous cornflower blue. I added a touch of Dior Vernis in Perle to the ring finger. Look at the gorgeous matte, pearlized finish:

And with top coat, Perle is lit from within, evoking a shiny and soft iridescence:

All Dior Trianon makeup will be available mid-January.

In addition to the limited edition makeup, Dior releases four new additions to their Extreme Backstage professional line-up. The new Pore Minimizer is a perfecting, matifying base that diminishes pores and creates a matte effect upon application, refining skin texture and smoothing fine lines. Its filler spheres combined with soft-focus pigments even out the complexion and erase imperfections invisibly and weightlessly, leading to perfect-looking skin even in close-up.

Tips: Apply all over to hydrated skin, starting at centre of face and blending outwards and upwards with fingertips. Pore Minimizer can be used alone or under foundation for optimal application and hold.
Touch up during the day to matify and diminish pores by patting gently onto required areas then blending with fingertips.

Glow Maximizer radiance booster provides skin an infusion of light without shine or iridescence. Inspired by studio reflectors, its imperceptible texture contains microscopic mirrors to instantly illuminate the face, sculpting features and correcting colour imperfections. Dark shadows fade, and the complexion looks as radiant as under studio lighting.

Tips: As a booster: mix a pea-sized quantity with foundation and apply a light layer to well-hydrated skin, blending outwards and upwards.
To sculpt the face: pat gently over makeup onto the desired light-catching areas such as the forehead, bridge of nose, brow bone and cheekbones.

Both Dior Pore Minimizer and Glow Maximizer will be available at Sephora January 17th, everywhere on January 30th, 2014. $42 Cdn each.

For the eyes, Dior makes professional perfection accessible to every woman with the introduction of its new eye primer Backstage Eye Prime. Its secret is a weightless volatile oil that once applied, evaporates to fix the makeup. Using pigments from foundation technologies, the eye primer unifies and corrects the lid complexion for a perfect eye makeup base. Throughout the day, the primer prevents eyeshadow from creasing, keeping colour even and true all day long. Dior Backstage Eye Prime will be available at Sephora January 17th, everywhere on January 30th, 2014. $30 Cdn each.

This was the first of the new products I had to test, and I must say, I am impressed. Eye Prime applies like a concealer-type cream, immediately drying to a powder-like finish. I have tried wearing it as a base to powder eye shadow as well as smudged kohl-type liner/shadows, and true to its promise, no creasing and no wearing off of my eye makeup. There are very few eye primers that have held up to my standards – in fact, I have relied on only one product thus far – but Dior’s eye primer is truly ‘backstage’ material.
