Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

A product I have had my eye on, I was thrilled to finally get a chance to test Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Promising to provide “younger-looking skin by morning, this lightweight, readily-absorbed elixir effectively restores skin’s healthy appearance overnight, resulting in smoother, more radiant complexion by morning.” So many enticing promises that I literally tore into the package the first night!

A paraben-free, fragrance-free, mineral-oil free product, the directions are to apply 2 – 3 drops on cleansed skin, alone or under your moisturizer. And so I decided to take the Midnight Recovery Concentrate for a test drive.

More details from Kiehl’s:

Kiehls-Midnight-Recovery ConEnriched with Squalane, a botanical lipid similar in molecular structure to natural skin lipids, Evening Primrose Oil, rich in Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oils including Lavender, our formula provides a boost of essential moisture to depleted skin. These naturally derived oils instantly penetrate the skin surface to help replenish it. Our recovery concentrate works at night when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressors. With skin hydrated, supple and soft, rest assured you can say goodnight to tired-looking skin.

The first time I used this elixir, I actually woke up and noticed that I looked refreshed, like I had slept 10 hours. And not in the TV commercial, not realistic, fully-made-up movie way. But in a fresh, yes-I-was-at-the-spa kind of way. It made my skin glow, plump… I was sold!

The product comes in a dark blue bottle with a dropper to help you utilize the right amount. It is a clear, oil-based serum, but it does not feel oily at all once you apply it. I would compare it to a dry oil – it is literally absorbed the moment you apply it. And the scent…. oh the scent is delicious! Though without any fragrances, the product has the soft scent of some of its essential oils; I picked up lavender along with a hint of evening primrose oil. It is absolutely divine! (It smells so heavenly that I am secretly hoping Kiehl’s will release a body moisturizer with the same scent…)

I used the elixir both alone and under my regular moisturizer, and I found I could get away with it alone, though I prefer the additional hydration my moisturizer provides. I’ve been using it regularly for a good few weeks now, and it has become an essential part of my beauty routine. Even the feeling of applying it on my skin, along with that beautiful soft scent, makes me feel as though I’m at a spa…

Final verdict? Everyone needs to try Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate to see its results for themselves!
