Holos

Happy Fourth of July to our American Friends!

Much like Black Gold, Texas Tea, In the Navy is a gorgeous linear holo from Colors by Llarowe’s brand-new polish collection. A deep navy the colour of the deepest sea, In the Navy is a vampy shade after my own heart… the holo in it is so strong that even in shade, you see tiny glimmers of rainbow dancing on your nails.

Application was a dream: a fluid, full-coverage polish, In the Navy has an ultra-shiny base, levelling easily, and drying quickly. Here are two coats of In the Navy over base coat with FNUG’s new IGEL Manicure Top Coat:

And here is a photo slightly blurred to show you the gorgeous linear holo:

Check out this gorgeous macro shot:

FNUG’s IGEL top coat really delivered. It is incredibly long-lasting, and truly adds an extra level of shine. I managed to wear it for a full 5 days before my polish ADD kicking in and “forcing” me to change my nail colour, but even after 5 days, there were barely any chips. I was tough on my nails, washed dishes without gloves (which I usually try not to do) and other irresponsible nail things in order to test-drive this baby. And best part? It’s a quick-dry top coat!! (I think they need to add the label “quick-dry” to the bottle because I had no idea it was fast-drying.)

See the other Colors by Llarowe here and here! Just like my previous experience with this new brand, I was impressed! The holo was incredible and application was a breeze. All of Colors by Llarowe polishes are 3-free and cruelty free, and come in a 15 ml square bottles. The future bottles after the initial launch will have those amazing soft-touch caps that we’ve come to love!

Continuing on with the reveal of the brand-new line, today I bring you three more Colors by Llarowe lacquers by the store of the same name! (See Part 1 here!)

The first colour is probably one of my new favourites… Runt, from the Cheetoman & the Gang Collection, named after Leah Ann’s band of crazy kittens. This is a charity polish with proceeds going to the ASPCA – and if you know me, you know that I love nothing more than animals – so this is a polish close to my heart. Thank you, Leah Ann, for donating to animal charities. 🙂

Runt is a peach pink linear holo, almost pale enough to be called a near-nude (depending on your skintone). Runt is absolutely stunning!!!! The peach base is simply perfect for summer! I think this would also make a beautiful layering polish overtop of a peach or pink jelly…. I wanted to show you its true beauty, so here are three thin coats of Runt over A England’s base coat, and with a coat of FNUG Gel Top Coat. In the sun:

Colors_Runtsun

Look at that holo!!!! And is that not a beautiful pink? Application could not have been more perfect. A bit sheer on the first coat, but easily buildable, fluid, quick-drying. Love!

Even in the shade, Runt is spectacular: (by the way, this was pre-top coat!)

Colors_RuntShdCrazy shine and gorgeous colour. I think everyone needs a Runt in their lives!

Switching gears, the next shade is a much darker holo named Gizmo, also from the Cheetoman collection, and another ASPCA charity polish. This is a deep khaki linear holo, with incredible shine like the rest of the Colors by Llarowe polishes. Here are two coats of Gizmo in sunlight:

Colors_Gizmo
I am simply blown away by the holographic effects of these polishes!

Look at it in the shade – equally as gorgeous!

Colors_GizmoShd

The third colour today is Her Eyes Shined, another charity polish from the two-polish collection that is very dear to Leah Ann. This collection, called “Missing You,” is dedicated to her mom and dad whom she lost to cancer and to kidney disease, respectively. Proceeds of this polish will benefit the National Kidney Foundation. Her Eyes Shined is  a turquoise green jelly base with turquoise and blue microglitters, with somewhat of a sheer base. This makes a perfect layering polish if you are looking for opacity!

I applied two thin coats of Her Eyes Shined over Gizmo:

Colors_HerEyesShined

Being a translucent glitter, this polish simply glows and sparkles!!

Here is a macro shot to show you the beautiful glitters (click on the pic to enlarge):

Colors_HerEyesShinedMacro

Her Eyes Shined reminded me of a Caribbean ocean… the deep green with the gorgeous blue sparkles… It has such depth and jelly squishiness. This polish is so very pretty in person!

Once again, I was really impressed by Llarowe’s new polish line. The holo on these was incredible, they were all super-shiny,  and application was a breeze. You must get your hands on these!

All of these polishes are 3-free and cruelty free, and come in a 15 ml square bottles. The future bottles after the initial launch will have those amazing soft-touch caps that we’ve come to love!

So….which is your favourite so far?

It’s piCture pOlish Thursday again and today I bring you another sparkly gem that is part of the Limited Edition Collaboration shades! piCture pOlish is an amazing brand that created the Collaboration Shades, polishes that the piCture pOlish Girls created with bloggers or their Network members (online vendors). How cool is that?

piCture pOlish Atomic was created with blogger Sarah of Samarium’s Swatches, and launched in January of this year. Sarah was inspired by the element Samarium, her blog namesake, a silvery white metal. Samarium oxidizes in the air, forming a grayish-yellow powder, and that is why there is gold shimmer sparkle in her creation!

piCture pOlish describes Atomic as a silver/white metallic holo (scattered) that has NO glitter.  Atomic contains a holographic shimmer to create a magical shade, complex with a lot going on!

Atomic is a pale silver with a warm tint, making it suitable to, in my opinion, all skin tones. It is perfect for layering – it’s sheer enough to be a top coat-type polish in order to change the base colour, but today I wanted to capture its pure beauty. Below I used two generous coats of Atomic over base coat, and luckily it was a sunny day so that you can see the amazing holo sparkle!

picturepolish_atomic

I personally like VNL (visible nail lines), but if you wanted total opacity, you could add a third coat of Atomic or layer it. You know what else is amazing? Atomic dries super-quickly, so you don’t have to worry about layering or using three coats!

Here is a picture of Atomic slightly blurred to show off the amazing delicate holo for you:

picturepolish_atomic_blur

Do you think I should layer Atomic over a coloured base next time?

Get your very own bottle of Atomic by visiting piCture pOlish on-line and or any piCture pOlish Network member, including Harlow & Co, Llarowe and Nail Polish Canada. And don’t forget to follow the Girls on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram for all the latest news, giveaways, and more!!

Happy piCture pOlish Thursday! It’s time for another Ozotic, an Aussie brand that piCture pOlish added to their portfolio (lucky for us!)! Today I have for you a brand-new polish for me: Ozotic 621, part of their 600 series which are all scattered holos.

Ozotic 621 is described as “a deep red holo that has no glitter! 621 contains a scattered holo element that will bring rainbows to your fingertips! Your nails will take on a whole new dimension when in bright light or sunlight.” 621 is FILLED with a rainbow-hued holo, creating a three-dimensional, gorgeous effect on your nails, even outside of direct light… Though it’s described as a deep red, I saw a lot of orange in the base which makes it quite a warm red. When the light hits 621, it sparkles with a lot of gold reflection. Gorgeous!

I applied two beautiful, easy coats of 621 over basecoat, with a coat of China Glaze’s Fast Forward Top Coat. Ozotic 621 applied easily, self-levelling, and could even be a one-coater if you’re in a hurry. It’s the fluid, heavily pigmented consistency that made me fall in love with the entire piCture pOlish line – and the best part? It dries super-fast!

In artificial light:

Ozotic_6212

Look at that shine!!!! Don’t you love the depth that the holo creates?

Now look at it come alive in sunlight:

Ozotic_621

Earlier I fell in love with the Ozotic Sugars and Beam lines, and today, I am in love with Ozotic’s amazing scattered holo. If you have never tried the 600 series, you must.

Continuing with my weekly piCture pOlish posts, today I bring you one of my favourite vampy polishes, piCture pOlish Monroe! This is Monroe Reborn, the second version of this cult classic, but I will also show you a comparison of Monroe Original vs Monroe Reborn.

Monroe is described as a blood red jelly with scattered holographic, with no glitter. Monroe contains a holographic shimmer for that extra special touch and more rainbows of course!  Your nails will take on a whole new dimension when in bright light or sunlight! The holo effect is gorgeous on Monroe – shimmery, rainbow hues sparkling on your nails!

When Monroe was first reformulated, I was disappointed… I thought the piCture pOlish Girls were messing with perfection. But to be honest, even though I adore Monroe Original’s jelly base, it was a bit tricky to apply, streaking if you went over an area twice, whereas Monroe Reborn is self-levelling and a perfect consistency, making it easy to apply and almost a one-coater. Not only that, but the new Monroe is insanely holographic!!!

Here are two gorgeous coats of Monroe, before I even applied top coat:

picturepolish_MonroeThe holo bits are reflecting in this indoor lighting!

Here it is in the sun:

picturepolish_MonroeSunI am in LOVE with this holo beauty!

The original Monroe was one of my first piCture pOlish loves. In fact, I believe it was the first piCture pOlish I ever ordered! And because of how curious I was myself when the new Monroe was released, here are some comparison shots of Monroe Original vs Reborn for you:

picturepolish_MonroeComp

Can you tell which is the new and which is original Monroe?

Monroe Reborn: index and ring fingers
Monroe Original: middle and pinky

And here is a photo with flash, comparing the two:

picturepolish_MonroeCompFl

The above picture shows the intensity of the holo in new Monroe; the pieces are larger and much more intense, whereas original Monroe had a very faint and subtle holo effect. Monroe Reborn has the same scattered holo as Cosmos and some of the Ozotic holos – simply stunning!!

I am still obsessed with Monroe Original, and am really lucky to have a backup bottle. (As you can imagine, I use it sparingly!) However, Monroe Reborn is a new love of mine, not only because of the holo effect and its alluring vampy shade, but also thanks to its fantastic ease of application and speedy dry time!

If you love holos as much as me, you can get Monroe by visiting piCture pOlish on-line and or any piCture pOlish Network member, including Harlow & Co, Llarowe and Nail Polish Canada.

It’s piCture pOlish Thursday, and today I have for you a sparkly gem of a polish, Majesty!

Majesty is another Collaboration Shade, polishes that the piCture pOlish Girls created with bloggers or their Network members. And this is what piCture pOlish has to say about this creation:

Majesty was created with Sahrish from Sahrish Adeel’s Inspiration: a shade that would be perfect for every occasion, every skin type, every age –  basically everyone!  And what a challenge that became however we never gave up! And yes with Majesty your nails will look perfect everyday…

Majesty is a taupe/pink/nude with micro gold sparks and holo (scattered) and has NO glitter. Majesty contains a holographic shimmer to create a shade just perfect for everyone for every occasion!

Read all about how Majesty was created on Sahrish’s blog!

I was excited to review this shade because it truly is a universally flattering soft gold with a faint taupe base colour. It is filled with micro glass flecks that sparkle in a multitude of colours, depending on the light. I found it to reflect greenish-gold on the surface of the nail, though it sparkled the way that scattered holos do: a little bit of pink, gold and green flashes.

It applies quite sheer on the first coat, making it a buildable polish that reaches near-opacity by the third coat. This makes it a cool layering polish, so of course, that is what I did! Reaching for a gorgeous taupe untried, I used two coats of OPI’s Berlin There, Done That, from their recent Germany Collection:

OPI_BerlinThereDoneThat

(Why have I not worn this spectacular polish in the months since picking it up??)

And here is a generous layer of Majesty added to the above mani:

picturepolish_Majesty

I felt that OPI’s Berlin There, Done That was the perfect base for Majesty, not overpowering it, but also allowing me to show Majesty’s beauty with just one generous coat.

To show you the scattered holo sparks, here is a slightly blurred photo:

picturepolish_MajestyBlur

Beautiful, gold, sparkly!

I simply adore piCture pOlish products, and I adore them more for creating these cool Collaboration Shades! (Check out my other Collaboration Shade reviews here and here.)

If you love holos as much as me, you can get your very own Majesty by visiting piCture pOlish on-line and or any piCture pOlish Network member, including Harlow & Co, Llarowe and Nail Polish Canada.

Happy Sunday!

Today I have you for you a few gorgeous La Femme polishes, another untried brand for me. These polishes were stunning, especially the holos. They are spectacular!

I’ve been on a bit of a purple kick lately, so here is beautiful Delicada, described as a delicate lilac linear holographic. It is so pretty and delicate, indeed.

Two coats over basecoat in natural daylight:

LaFemme_Delicada

I love the shine!!

And two coats with flash:

LaFemme_DelicadaFlash

Look at that holo sparkle! This polish is subdued with a gorgeous hint of lilac, but the light makes it come alive with brilliance!

Another neutral beauty is La Femme Natural, a spectacular silver linear holographic. What I loved about this polish was that although it looks very silver in the bottle, it’s actually quite subtle, and not an in-your-face silver.

Here are two coats over basecoat in the sun. I think this is my favourite of the holos!!

LaFemme_Natural_Sun

And here it is with flash. Flash brings out the silver of this beauty:

LaFemme_Natural

The third polish I have for you today is Valiosa, described as a mint green linear holographic, though I would describe it as more of a pistachio polish. It is a light green with a warm undercurrent…

Two coats over basecoat, in full sun:

LaFemme_Valiosa

The final holographic La Femme polish I have for you is Preciosa, described as a Robin’s egg blue linear holographic, a perfect description of this icy cool-blue hue.

Here it is with 2 coats, no topcoat. You can see a hint of the linear holographic even without direct light:

LaFemme_Preciosa

And check out the intense holo in a photo with flash:

Which do you like best?
