Jellies Continued…

If you have been following my blog, you know how I feel about jellies (love!) and how I have discovered the perfect “jellies in a bottle” thanks to the ridiculously talented Rebecca at Aphrodite Lacquers!! If you haven’t, catch up here!

Today I have a fantastic summery beauty for you, Mai Tai, which incidentally, also reminds me of my polish-BFF/sometime-co-blogger Mai, who is also obsessed with jellies. and polish. It also reminds me of a yummy Mai Tai cocktail. Or any fruity umbrella-cocktail, for that matter. (Really wish I were on a beach right now!)

Mai Tai is part of Aphrodite Lacquers’ The SandBar collection. It is a stunning red jelly with red glitter (some are holo!) and tiny silver shimmers. I had such difficulty photographing this polish! In some pictures, it leans more pink/blue-based, but in others, you can see the slight orange base it really has. I think this is because it kept reflecting the light outside…

So here are my best shots, 3 thin coats of Mai Tai over a base of China Glaze Strong Adhesion Basecoat, followed by a coat of A England’s The Shield top coat.

Can you see the gorgeous shimmers??

And see how the bottle appears slightly more orange than the polish on my nails? (It’s not just me, right??)

As expected, I fell in love with Mai Tai. At first, I thought it would be very similar to Rum Runner (judge for yourself), another gorgeous Aphrodite jelly, but I was so wrong. Rum Runner is much more berry and cool-toned, whereas I found Mai Tai to be warmer, more red and more vibrant.

The other bonus I have experienced with every single one of my Aphrodites is that they remove incredibly easilly for glitter polishes!

If you love jellies like I do, then follow Aphrodite Lacquers on Twitter, on Facebook, or head to the Etsy store to stock up!

So what do you think? How do Rum Runner and Mai Tai compare?
