Launched just a few days ago, the new KBShimmer Summer 2013 collection is comprised of 9 new colors added to their 3-Free glitter polish line.  “Our new line was created to play off the bolder palette of summer, some inspired by the 80’s and 90s, but also to celebrate the patriotic season. One of our polishes plays off the color of the year, Emerald Green, and will ease people into the summer while two others were inspired by the fall 2013 Pantone colors Koi and Vivacious. Both will make for an easy transition through the summer and into the fall.  We are also excited to unveil two scented cuticle oils in an easy-applicator pen.  We hope to inspire and motivate people to go out in the sun and show off their nails!” says owner and designer Christy Rose.

The summer lineup includes one glitter top coat, two glitter crellys in a white base and six bright, bold polishes, two in a matte finish. And today I have for you three of the fun, bright colours: The Dancing Green, Blinded by the Bright, and Pimp My Pride!

First up, Pimp My Pride, a white-based, patriotic polish with metallic red and blue glitters. Though advised to be worn as 3 coats or 1-2 coats over white, it provided amazing coverage in two generous coats over a base coat.Unlike some white polishes that drag or are difficult to apply, Pimp My Pride was an easy application on both coats. And you know how much I adore white polishes!!

Here it is in the sun:

and in the shade:

The next polish, Blinded by the Bright, is a yellow neon with a scattering of hex glitters in the 6 primary and secondary colors. At first glance, this totally reminded me of Toucan Touch This from KBShimmer’s fall collection last year, a pedicure favourite of mine with its neon base.

Another easy polish to apply, I used two coats with base coat. It is blindingly, gorgeously bright!

Here is a sun shot:

And in the shade, just as bright:

KBShimmer_BlindedbytheBrightI love it!!!

Last but not least, the Pantone colour of the year, Emerald, is the base for The Dancing Green. An almost neon green with blue undertones, accented by fuchsia, sapphire, green and chartreuse glitters in different shapes and sizes. My camera did not want to take an accurate picture of this one… it kept photographing light green! In real life it is just as bright, though the base is a tad darker green than the picture below, in full sun:

The shade picture is a bit more colour-accurate:

The Dancing Green is really different and beautiful. I love the contrast of the fuchsia glitters in that jelly, near-neon base!

All three of these shades, along with the rest of KBShimmer’s Summer 2013 collection, is now available at Harlow & Co, KBShimmer’s exclusive international stockist!

Yesterday I brought you the first part of my KBShimmer spam, and today I bring you two more Fall 2012 beauties!

KBShimmer has released 8 gorgeous polishes for fall (which you can see on her Facebook page), and I was lucky enough to preview four of them for you. First up, Quantum Leaf, a beautiful orangy-gold base with orange, copper, red and gold hex and microglitters. This was such an interesting polish – it really looks like ‘fall in a bottle’ to me! Quantum Leaf left me with the image of driving through a tree-lined road in the fall, with red, yellow and rust-coloured leaves dancing in the trail of my car… just magical.

Isn’t it beautiful? Here is another shot:

2 coats, shade

In the shade it looks more like a subdued mustard colour and the glitters really pop. I love Quantum Leaf, and will definitely be enjoying this beauty once the leaves start turning….

The second colour I have for you today is one of the “unexpected” variety – a stunning royal blue – with nary a glitter in sight. I Made a Bleu Bleu is a blue shimmer polish, and it is to-die-for!!!! Christy describes it on Facebook as “a Royal Blue base with subtle green shimmer and micro gold and purple sparkles,” but to be honest, I didn’t realize the shimmers were green or purple until I saw the photos. The polish dries to a gorgeous blue shade with this silvery-gold sheen, and it is the perfect blue! I often shy away from blues for work – I feel they can look immature or too bright – but this is a very elegant shade.

Look at that sheen, subtly dancing in the light!

And finally, a macro so you can see the beautiful shimmer up close (click on the pic to see it full size!):

I wore both polishes over a base coat and with top coat. Perhaps next time I will add a second coat of top coat or a coat of Gelous over Quantum Leaf to tame the glitter, but both polishes were shiny even on their own.

Again, these shades, along with the rest of KBShimmer’s Fall 2012 collection, will be available on September 1st directly from KBShimmer’s online shop. For us international fans, Harlow & Co is KBShimmer’s exclusive stockist!

So which of the four I have previewed do you like better?  🙂

(Products were provided for consideration and review.)

Today I have for you a preview of one of the many upcoming Fall 2012 collections being released, and I am so excited for my very first KBShimmer post!

I can’t believe that we are talking about fall (and have been for a few weeks already!) since it’s still hot August weather here, yet as much as I adore summer, I love the colours of fall and the feeling it brings of a new beginning.

And with those fall colours in mind, KBShimmer has released a gorgeous collection for fall, with both unexpected bursts of brightness and vampy deep shades to transition us to winter.

First up, Toucan Touch This, an almost-neon lime green jelly base packed full of a complex mix of glitters. KBShimmer describes it as “gold, green, teal, blue, and orange hex glitters, some holographic… Micro teal, orange and blue bars are accented by micro orange glitters.” And wait till you see this baby!

2 coats of Toucan Touch This in sunlight

Toucan was so glitter dense that I often had bunches of glitter in one area, but with a little maneuvering, I was able to get good coverage on the first coat. With 2 coats, above, there is still some VNL (visible nail line), but I actually like VNL. I also love the jelly base of Toucan so much that it is currently my pedicure polish!!

Here is a macro shot for you. Click on the picture if you’d like to see it in full size:

The second polish I have for you today is called simply, Jack. Many of you who follow my blog or follow me on Facebook know that in addition to white base polishes, I am obsessed with vampy shades; the darker, the better!! Jack is a black jelly base with multiple sizes of orange hex glitters, black hex glitters, and tiny orange and black bars. The black glitters aren’t visible in the bottle but they add a gorgeous dark contrast to the brightness of orange once on the nail.

Because I usually like to swatch shades on their own, I did not add a black coat of undies before wearing Jack, but I can definitely see myself wearing it with undies next time. I do, however, love the suspended look of jellies on their own! And I do need to say that even without a top coat, Jack was surprisingly shiny. Beautiful!

And finally a macro shot:

I will bring you two more beauties from KBShimmer in my next post!
