What is it about spring that has us running toward lighter knits? Or is it just me? ????
Lately I’ve been finding myself drawn to cotton yarn, and as a result, I’ve been trying to find new projects to work using various cotton yarns. It didn’t even dawn on me that my latest project, a cozy cardigan (pattern by one of my faves, @TwoofWands) is even worked in cotton, although a thicker, crazy-soft cotton from KnitPicks called Billow. I can’t wait for you to see it!
But I digress. Back to my current project. A couple of months ago I started playing with KnitPicks Dishie, a gorgeous, worsted weight 100% cotton yarn with a tight spin that is so fun to work with. I’ve used Dishie to make dishcloths in the past, and decided to create a kitchen towel in a style I love. Something with texture… and stripes. I absolutely love the way my towel came together in Dishie in Mint with Swan for the stripes, knitted in Moss Stitch.
The best part?? While I was knitting my towel, my friends at KnitPicks sent me their latest Dishie colours (six new shades in all), and I, of course, fell in love with the sea-coloured shade called Inlet. I made a dishcloth to match my striped towel using Dishie in Inlet, which is the most perfect name for this sea-coloured yarn. And after knitting the dishcloth by the sea (well, it’s actually a lake), and seeing the beautiful colour matching the water, I decided to name this duo the Inlet Towel and Dishcloth set.
My favourite part about this knit is how easy and meditative it is. Some knits require your attention… some knits do not. And when I want to unwind and relax, these are the types of patterns I like to make. A simple four-row repeat creates the moss stitch pattern, while the colour changes are simple enough to follow. The end result is striking and beautiful, like a chic French cottage towel set! The perfect gifts!
I hope you love this set as much as I do. I’m already dreaming of my next colour combination!
