This is a collection that had me so very excited. OPI doing a Bond collection?? YES please!! A Bond anniversary special collection?? Say no more!
Ever since the handsome Sean Connery captivated our hearts as 007, women throughout the years have swooned over the various actors who have graced the silver screen as James Bond. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of this historic franchise (read more here), and to celebrate, OPI has teamed with the production company of the Bond franchise to deliver 12 limited-edition polishes in the holiday Skyfall collection.
The polishes are divided into two groups: the Dangerous and the Seductive shades, and today I bring you a few of the Seductive beauties!
First up is my favourite Bond film namesake, Casino Royale. (siiigh….)
OPI describes this as a “high-rolling plum…fit for royalty.” This is truly a gorgeous plum with a creme finish and an incredible high shine, and one of my favourites out of the whole collection. The only negative about this colour is that it can stain. I removed it very carefully by using fresh cotton on each nail to prevent rubbing the colour.
I used 2 coats for these pictures with no top coat so you can see the amazing shine.
Next up, The Spy Who Loved Me, a bold, classic red shade with tiny golden shimmer. The polish is more of a cherry shade though the gold gives it a a warm, orange-leaning tinge. This is one of those colours that you must own. It is a perfect fall shade, with the gold adding depth and warmth. It is a near-jelly, applying very smoothly and drying to a surprisingly high shine (no grittiness here). I love that the gold is very subtle and sparkles delicately in certain light.
Two coats over base coat, no top coat:
I love the shot below because you can see the jelly quality in the shade over my index finger:
And to wrap things up, Goldeneye. This polish looks and applies like liquid gold! A clear base, densely filled with two shades of gold, combining for a luxurious, perfect shade of gold. At one coat, this was a little patchy, but with 2 coats – perfection!
Please excuse the slightly ruddy look around my cuticles… not sure why they look so red here lol.
In the shade, there is less sparkle but more of a molten-gold look on your nails. It is just spectacular!!
What I love about Goldeneye is its versatility. You can use it as a topcoat, gradient on the tips of your nails, by itself… it is gorgeous!!
As an added bonus, OPI has released a mini set of 4 beauties for the holiday season: Bond-ettes features four shimmery shades from the new limited edition Skyfall lacquers. The Bond-ettes mini set features a spectrum of light to dark shimmers: GoldenEye, The Spy Who Loved Me, Live and Let Die, and The World is Not Enough.
For more information, visit OPI.com, follow them on twitter, and become a Facebook fan.
This collection, as well as the mini set, is now at salons and stores, including Nail Polish Canada for online shopping convenience!
I had to include the Skyfall poster for some delicious eye candy.
Oh and while we’re at it, the incredible Adele’s Skyfall theme song has been released!!! Enjoy!
