The natural nail only better… The Zoya Nail Polish Naturel collection masters delicate tone on tone color with six new, full-coverage (opaque) neutral nudes with a pink undertone, that can be worn beautifully alone or stunningly together to create modern tonal accents.

The Look: It’s not about matching – it’s about coordinating colors with slight tonal differences to create interest.

Zoya’s Crusade against Artificial Nail Products:
Since 1993, Zoya Nail Polish and Treatments has provided quality, long-wearing formulations that are free of potentially toxic ingredients. Here’s how the battle against artificial and toxic products was won…

As owner of the country’s first Natural Nail and Skin Spa and armed with relevant information on potential health hazards, Zoya Reyzis was resolute to create a new line of quality professional products that would meet her exacting specifications. Pregnant at the time, she enlisted the aid of her Chemist Husband, Michael Reyzis, to develop toluene, formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate free formulations that would provide extended wear on natural nails making Zoya the first to develop a “Big 3 Free” formula of nail polish. In the years since the birth of the brand, the commitment to providing safe and effective products has soldiered on with Zoya once again leading the way with the removal of formaldehyde resins and camphor to create the first “Big 5 Free” nail polish brand.

Find the Zoya Naturel Nail Polish Collection and over 300 stunning BIG5FREE* Zoya colors on www.zoya.com. Each and every color has a name as unique as the women who inspired it.

*Formula is completely free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene and camphor.

I can’t wait for this collection!!! Which ones are you loving most?

I was recently invited by the good people over at Nail Polish Canada (they do a good job of supporting my polish addiction!) to participate in their second annual Holiday Nail Art Challenge. Though I fancy myself a nail polish connoisseur, but hardly a nail “artist,” I still decided to give it a try and participate this year! Let’s see if I can keep up. 😉

The first week’s nail art challenge is “snow” – and I decided to go for an abstract look. My snow-themed nail art is inspired by the beauty of a sunny, cold day in the middle of winter, when the ground and trees are totally covered by sparkling, fluffy snow.

I started with a base colour of OPI’s Ski Slope Sweetie (which I was wearing over a coat of OPI’s My Vampire is Buff already) – this was completely dry. I then sponged on a gradient of Zoya’s gorgeous blue Pixie Dust Sunshine with a hint of a blue-grey holo Colors by Llarowe called Rare Bear in the middle and OPI’s Ski Slope Sweetie toward the base of the nail. Finally, I applied a few dots using Butter LONDON’s gorgeous white Cotton Buds and OPI’s glitter Which is Witch? for sparkling snow.

Mariah Carey for OPI’s Ski Slope Sweetie epitomizes a gorgeous, snow-covered ground – it is a beautiful white with golden shimmer, so I thought it would be the perfect base for this “snow-covered” mani. I love the sparkle and texture of Zoya’s Pixie Dust Sunshine, and thought the blue was a beautiful contrast to the white mani. Finally, OPI’s Which is Witch contains holographic glitter in a clear base, making it the perfect finishing touch for a “snow” themed manicure!

Happy Sunday! Yesterday I finally decided I wanted to try something new… something I have had my eye on for some time but never actually tried. I also thought that the Zoya Cashmeres & Satins Collection had the perfect selection of colours for it! Please be gentle as this was my first go, but today I present you my very first leopard print mani!

I decided to use the angelic nude Flynn as my base – my perfect mannequin-shade with the slight tan I still have left… shiny, perfect. I hesitated adding nail art to it because it was so gorgeous on its own!

Here are two coats of Zoya Flynn, no top coat (look at that shine!):

Zoya_Flynn

I had decided to use Zoya Channing from the Satins collection as my ‘spots’ – I love the metallic sheen of this rusty copper red, and of course, Zoya Louise was the perfect chocolate brown creme to surround the ‘spots.’

After I finished the mani, I touched up my ring fingers’ spots with Maria-Luisa, and started touching up random spots on each of my other nails. I love the tiny accents of gold!

Here it is!

What do you think of my very first leopard print mani??

Would you guys like a how-to for this mani?

Zoya Sailor is an absolutely spectacular dark navy creme polish from Zoya’s sultry Cashmeres collection for Fall 2013. It was one of the standouts for me from the creme portion of the fall release, and it is perfection in person!

After wearing it for a few days, I was too tired to do a new mani, so I decided to touch up the tips to freshen the tip wear. I reached for the beautiful and dusty Natty, a shade often compared to Sailor. Was it a dupe? Nope, definitely not a dupe. While Zoya Sailor has more of a true blue base, darkened to a navy, Natty is dusty: it’s a steely deep blue that made for a soft contrasting French tip.

Here are two coats of Zoya Sailor, a few days old, with a free-handed French tip of Zoya Natty:

Because this was such a quick touch-up, and I originally did not have the intention of posting about it, I only have my iPhone photos! So I apologize for the less-than-perfect quality. 🙂

Here is the collage I shared on my Instagram of this mani:

FALL COLOR – AVAILABLE OCTOBER 01, 2013!

I wanted to bring you a quick post today… I am back after my mini-beach vacation and am not only surprised, but extremely impressed that my beach-themed manicure lasted! Spending most of my time in the water and with all that sun, sand and heat, I was sure I’d have to reapply… I even brought a selection of polishes to choose from! (Not to mention top coat, base coat… files…)

Without even giving it much thought, I knew I wanted to use my favourite bisque shade, OPI’s My Vampire is Buff as a base (as I have for my other recent gradients here and here). Instinctively I reached for the beautiful creme blue shade Rocky from Zoya’s Stunning Collection for Summer 2013. Rocky is a gorgeous, highly wearable sky-blue shade; bright but without being in-your-face, and it looked amazing with MVIB! (Have I told you that blue is my favourite colour?)

Please excuse the iPhone quality picture, but I literally applied this mani once I had finished packing and was getting ready to head to the airport. Being slightly tight on time, I cheated a little and actually applied some Rocky to the tips straight from the brush, then sponged on the gradient for the blended, gradient effect:

Imagine how great it felt to see my nails and be transported to heaven on earth:

What do you think of my beach mani?

Today I have for you one of my favourites from Zoya’s Summer 2013 Stunning Collection, the 6-piece creme half of Zoya’s Stunning and Irresistible Collection. Zoya Thandie is a non-neon, Creamsicle-looking orange beauty with a shimmer ribbon woven through it. I loved how Thandie was bright in that summery way, but not neon like most brights this year, making it highly wearable for most. Its shimmer is absolutely gorgeous! Let’s skip right ahead to the macro shot:

Zoya_Stunning_Thandiemacro

Like all my Zoyas, Thandie applied beautifully, self-levelling, with great coverage on the first coat. And dried to that gorgeous shiny Zoya finish in no time.

Here are two coats of Thandie in the sun:

…and in artificial light:

Is she not a beauty?

I wanted to play with the Zoya Summer 2013 collection, which, by the way, was so cohesive, with almost a related shade in each of the creme Stunning, Pixie Dust and foil shimmer Irresistible collections.  I chose the beautiful Amy from the Irresistible collection, a vibrant, fiery orange with tiny gold foil shimmer for an angled variation on the French manicure:

I loved how well these two paired together!! What do you think?
