Spring Cable Tee is here!

Happy Spring!

Although our Canadian weather likes to think otherwise, spring has arrived and brought with it longer and sunnier days. A summer lover and sun worshipper, even I have come to love the winter and enjoy the fun activities and beautiful scenery it brings… however, there is an incredible feeling of rebirth and newness in spring for me that is unlike any other. And I wanted to welcome this beautiful season with something bright, fun, and happy!

Thanks to my ongoing and incredible partnership with KnitPicks as a pattern designer, I have the honour of playing with lots of their yarns. I have tons of favourites: something for the winter, something super bulky, great cotton yarns… While still in the thick of winter, I was dreaming up a flowy, wavy design but was not sure if it would lead to a sweater, or maybe something else… Once I started playing with one of my favourite spring/summer yarns, KnitPicks Shine Worsted, it started to come together! Cables, cables everywhere! And I totally fell in love with it!

KnitPicks Shine Worsted is a dream: composed of Modal from natural beech wood fiber and high quality Pima cotton in a thicker yarn, projects work up quickly but create a beautiful draping fabric that is light and easy to wear in warmer weather. I previously used it in both my Diamond and March Tees.

Say hello to my Spring Cable Tee!

For those of you who have been nervous about knitting cables, but have created a few knits already, the Spring Cable Tee is a great foray into easy cables! I promise that once you use a cable needle, cables are not that intimidating! They just look very complicated. 😉 I am in love with the look of the repeat cables… it creates a fabric that is flattering but relaxed.

As always, the Spring Cable Tee is a size-inclusive pattern, ranging from a 29?/74 cm bust to a 58?/147 cm bust with a relaxed fit. It has 3 – 4″ of ease but will fit a little closer to the body due to the nature of the cables. It is a beginner-intermediate level pattern, filled with garter stitch and purls around the cables, and works up really quickly!

Have you tried making cables? I hope you give this gorgeous tee a try, and I can’t wait to see all the different colours you’ll choose!
