With summer coming to an unfortunate end for us sun and summer lovers, there is no better time than the present to talk about Vita Liberata, the most recent tanning it-brand. Earlier this year, Vita Liberata launched Ten Minute Tan, their answer to tanning in no time. VL calls this “the world’s fastest tanner;” it will provide a natural, medium tanned colour in just 10 minutes. Organic and super-charged with anti-aging ingredients such Matrixyl 3000 and Rosehip which work together to promote collagen production, this hydrating lotion cares for your skin as it tans.
Too good to be true? I put it to the test.
Application is easy: apply generously to clean, exfoliated skin using the Vita Liberata mitt or your hands. Massage it in with long, circular movements. Wash palms immediately after application. Wait 10 minutes, or, for a deeper tan, wait 15 – 20 minutes. Rinse in the shower, gently pat dry. Et voila! The tan will develop over the next 6 – 8 hours.
I’ve tried other self-tanners in the past and while some will provide a nice tan, many can be streaky or difficult to apply. Or, there is the difficulty of applying the product, letting it dry enough so that one can get dressed, then dealing with the awful scent of the self-tanner. VL Ten Minute Tan eliminates these issues by allowing you to apply it, wait 10 (or more) minutes, then rinsing it off!! No more worrying about ruining clothing with self-tanner stains because once you’ve showered, you can get dressed as you normally would. Amazing! And while there is a faint scent that does linger, especially as the product deepens over the next few hours, it is subtle and completely bearable.
With my olive-toned skin, I have tried leaving the product on for different increments of time and found that the best duration for me was approximately 15 or 20 minutes before rinsing for a natural, deep result. I also loved the way my skin felt moisturized and had a beautiful glow. I cannot wait to use this throughout the winter months to keep my summer glow!!
(Note: I am not including swatch photos as with my summer glow, the photos just would not show the depth of my Vita Liberata tan. I’ll post photos on my Insta when I’m paler.)
In addition to glowing, tanned skin, Vita Liberata also has a best-selling HD finish skin all-over makeup, Body Blur. According to Alyson Hogg, Vita Liberata’s founder, Body Blur is an instant body makeup that gives the most flawless skin finish and reduces the appearance of imperfections like cellulite and spider veins. It’s like wearing luxury sheer stockings! Launched with two new additional shades this past spring, Body Blur perfects the skin not only by masking blemishes, but also by adding a beautiful glow to the skin. Key ingredients include aloe, shea butter and vitamin E.
As easy to apply as the Ten Minute Tan, apply sparingly by dotting on the skin, then blending in long circular movements.
I’ll be honest, when I first saw this product, I did not want to believe the hype. Body makeup products are not a new category, and though can look beautiful, the work involved is not usually worth it to me. Plus the product transference is a pain, not to mention, dangerous when you’re wearing a stunning outfit that you risk ruining with smudged makeup! Alas, I finally relented and tried VL Body Blur. And was I ever glad I did! Body Blur has become my go-to leg and arm beautifier, especially when we are looking pale and lacking that summer glow. You’ll see in my arm swatches below how beautifully finished your skin looks with Body Blur, adding both a blurring and subtle tan effect, while providing a light veil of coverage to hide flaws and veins. And I love the glow it imparts! I used the shade 001 Latte.
I will warn you that you should definitely allow a good 5 or 10 minutes for Body Blur to dry after application to avoid getting any product on your clothing. And even with that, I did find some slight smudges on my car seat from behind my knees, and along the inside hem of my dress. It was very little product transference, but definitely something to be aware of especially if you’ll be sitting on, say, a white leather sofa.
Vita Liberata luxury at-home tanning solutions are available exclusively at Sephora stores and at sephora.ca.
Have you had a chance to try a Vita Liberata product, and what were your thoughts?
