It appears that winter, the real, freezing, sub-zero Toronto kind, finally arrived. Brrr, it has been ccccold out! We were lucky and graced with pretty mild temps for most of December, but as it always does, the chill likes to visit us in January and February, especially.
If you’ve been here a while, you saw how much I loved working with KnitPicks Tuff Puff last month. And I wanted to keep that squishy vibe going and continue knitting with it… Once you start to use to Tuff Puff, it’s difficult to put down. First of all, on such large needles and weight of yarn, it works up FAST. Secondly, KnitPicks Tuff Puff is such a pleasure to knit with. It just makes such a thick, warm, cozy fabric!
What did I end up making? The first thing that came to mind was a cute beanie for my little man!
What was a hat for my little guy, turned into matching mommy-and-me beanies! I made three of these babies so far… I hope I can stop! ????
What’s gorgeous about these beanies is the horseshoe-cable stitch that gives it so much squish and texture! And do not be intimidated by this cable – if you can knit, you can cable!
I decided to share this pattern with you so you can make a whole bunch of beanies! A couple of notes on this pattern: This beanie is knit in the round and seamless. It may be challenging to find either short circulars in this size (10 mm) or DPNs. You can use the magic loop method with longer cabled circulars as well. My KnitPicks Cocobolo 10 mm in the shortest cable (tip-to-tip 25″ total length) worked well until I got to the decreases in the hat. Then I switched to using one of the thicker DPNs I own, the KP Sunstruck 7 mm DPNs, with my circular 10 mm on my knitting hand.
BUT, realizing that perhaps it may be easier to knit this flat, I will also be sharing the flat pattern with you shortly! ??
Below is your FREE PATTERN! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
