piCture pOlish Monroe

Continuing with my weekly piCture pOlish posts, today I bring you one of my favourite vampy polishes, piCture pOlish Monroe! This is Monroe Reborn, the second version of this cult classic, but I will also show you a comparison of Monroe Original vs Monroe Reborn.

Monroe is described as a blood red jelly with scattered holographic, with no glitter. Monroe contains a holographic shimmer for that extra special touch and more rainbows of course!  Your nails will take on a whole new dimension when in bright light or sunlight! The holo effect is gorgeous on Monroe – shimmery, rainbow hues sparkling on your nails!

When Monroe was first reformulated, I was disappointed… I thought the piCture pOlish Girls were messing with perfection. But to be honest, even though I adore Monroe Original’s jelly base, it was a bit tricky to apply, streaking if you went over an area twice, whereas Monroe Reborn is self-levelling and a perfect consistency, making it easy to apply and almost a one-coater. Not only that, but the new Monroe is insanely holographic!!!

Here are two gorgeous coats of Monroe, before I even applied top coat:

Here it is in the sun:

picturepolish_MonroeSunI am in LOVE with this holo beauty!

The original Monroe was one of my first piCture pOlish loves. In fact, I believe it was the first piCture pOlish I ever ordered! And because of how curious I was myself when the new Monroe was released, here are some comparison shots of Monroe Original vs Reborn for you:

Can you tell which is the new and which is original Monroe?

Monroe Original: middle and pinky

And here is a photo with flash, comparing the two:

The above picture shows the intensity of the holo in new Monroe; the pieces are larger and much more intense, whereas original Monroe had a very faint and subtle holo effect. Monroe Reborn has the same scattered holo as Cosmos and some of the Ozotic holos – simply stunning!!

I am still obsessed with Monroe Original, and am really lucky to have a backup bottle. (As you can imagine, I use it sparingly!) However, Monroe Reborn is a new love of mine, not only because of the holo effect and its alluring vampy shade, but also thanks to its fantastic ease of application and speedy dry time!

If you love holos as much as me, you can get Monroe by visiting piCture pOlish on-line and or any piCture pOlish Network member, including Harlow & Co, Llarowe and Nail Polish Canada.

    1. Jellies are one of my favourite polish types so I’m partial to them, but Reborn turned out so amazing that it’s hard not to love!

  1. I own the original and love its vampy jelly base, and when I saw pics of the newer version I was disappointed that the base colour was lighter. However, now I’m thinking I might have to pick up the newer version and love it on its own merits!

    1. Jess, I felt the same — I ADORE Monroe Original’s vampy jelly! But the new one is spectacular… especially in the light! You must get it! 🙂
