Zoya Ornate Striping

If you follow me on Facebook, you’ll know that I was waiting (and waiting…) for the Zoya Ornate Winter 2012/2013 Collection for what seemed like an eternity!! It just would not make its way north of the border to us! Thankfully, Nail Polish Canada finally announced it was on the site, at which point I dropped what I was doing and raced to the site to make my purchase!

I picked three from the Ornate Collection: Blaze, Storm and Aurora, and thanks to the good people over at Zoya’s Facebook page (and this darn beautiful picture), I also had to have Astra. (Can a girl not abide by her no-buys?? lol)

These polishes are JUST as stunning as I dreamed. They are amazing. Holographic and beautiful. The shine! I could go on and on…. they are perfection.

I started out with dark and beautiful Storm. These pictures don’t even do this polish justice. It looks like a vampy, creamy, shiny black in the shade, but the faintest hint of direct yellow light, and the scattered multi-colour holo surfaces. I wore Storm for a couple of days before deciding to venture into, gasp, nail art. Nail art is not something I am big on or try often… for me, nail art is a funky French mani or a jelly sandwich. 🙂 And for this reason, I had never tried striping tape, but I was getting really eager to get my hands on some. A lovely girl named Stephanie was so sweet– when she found out I did not have any, she actually sent me some!! (I have not seen striping tape anywhere locally!) So a huge thank you again, Stephanie!!

Here is my very first striped mani, about halfway through. I topped Storm with Aurora, one of the most spectacular purple holos ever:

And here is the final result, on my other hand:

What do you think of my very first attempt at nail art?

The Zoya Ornate Collection is available directly from Zoya if you’re in the US, or Nail Polish Canada, and I’m not sure how long they’ll be there as they are hot… Don’t forget to follow Zoya on Facebook and on Twitter for the latest and more wallet-busting pictures like the one that inspired my Astra purchase. 🙂
