Elizabeth Arden introduces Visible Difference Multi-Targeted BB Cream to its Visible Difference line of skincare essentials. This all-in-one beauty balm is the ultimate balancing act – blending protection and perfection for healthy looking skin. Marrying the brand’s 100 year skincare expertise with the natural coverage of a sheer foundation, the formula instantly hydrates, brightens, primes and protects skin for a flawless-looking complexion.

VD_BB-Cream-30ml-Tube1“Originating in Germany for the purpose of masking surgical scars and then becoming a cult beauty phenomenon in Asia, Beauty or Blemish Balms (BB Creams) allow women to multitask an array of skincare and cosmetic products into one beauty staple, “ says Art Pellegrino, VP, Research & Development, Elizabeth Arden. “The new Visible Difference Multi-Targeted BB Cream intuitive formula boasts skin-smart ingredients which adapt to users’ unique skin concerns revealing their healthy looking skin. With instant and long-lasting results, we’re confident it will become a key step in every skincare regimen.”

Suitable for all skin types, Visible Difference Multi-Targeted BB Cream is a multitasking and total skin balancing solution that targets and treats user’s specific—oily, combination, dry—skincare concerns for an even, luminous complexion. Formulated with hyaluronic acid and key anti-aging ingredients, so skin brightness, texture, and tone are visibly improved immediately and over time.

The lightweight buildable formula easily blends into skin to provide the priming and long-wear coverage properties women seek from their favourite cosmetic products. Skin-enhancing mineral pigments help blur imperfections and diffuse fine lines and wrinkles, while an antioxidant-rich Vitamin C derivative helps brighten skin for a radiant finish.

  • Licorice Extract: Brightens the look of skin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: helps retain skin’s moisture and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Allantoin: provides soothing, benefits to the skin

Rebecca Recommends: “A true multi-tasking beauty tool, skip the professional brushes and use your fingertips for a fuss-free application. Today I have for you one of the coolest, most fun lip products I’ve (accidentally) stumbled upon: a lip glaze by Gosh Cosmetics, a still-somewhat new player in the Canadian cosmetics market. (I believe they only expanded into our market in ~2008.) Gosh has created an innovative lipgloss that not only comes with its own little mirror on the side of the tube, but also contains a tiny little light for application anywhere, in any light! (Hello, late nights?)

Gosh_LightnShine11

To say I was impressed is an understatement. When a girlfriend recently pulled out her gloss (in very dim lighting), and I looked over to see a bright light around her lips, my jaw hit the floor. (Knowing that my blog is called The Obsessed, you must understand that beauty innovations such as these blow me away.) The best part? She purchased her gloss for its sparkly beauty, never guessing that it contained the little light… until the day she proceeded to open it during a lecture while the hall was submerged in darkness! 🙂

The next time I saw her, she promptly handed me a gift: a tube of Gosh’s Light ‘N Shine!

This is shade 11, a beautiful, sparkly raspberry sorbet-looking gloss that will not only tint your lips, but add a shimmer to any lip product you may already be wearing. It looks deliciously juicy, both in the tube and on your lips. Yummy!

The best thing is that the light is actually a hidden gem, not visible until you twist the gloss open. There is a little sensor button that depresses while the tube is closed, keeping the light off until you use it. Genius!

Here is a photo so you can see the light:

The Lip Glaze comes with a soft brush applicator, which I personally love. I don’t mind the sponge applicators, but find that brushes provide greater control and apply with more ease. Here is a photo showing both the light and the brush applicator:

I’m sure you are curious about the colour. I wore it on its own, to allow you to see its subtleness:

As far as I know, Gosh Cosmetics are available at drugstores including Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada. For more info, check out their Facebook page or website!

Celebrating the Year of the Blogger!

ppblogfest

Today is piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013, and I am so happy to announce that I was once again able to participate in this world-wide blogger event!

This year was a little bit different than last year’s Blog Fest, with it celebrating bloggers and all we do. (Thank you, piCture pOlish!) And with that, this year’s challenge was to create the most ‘amazing nail art manicure ever’ using three piCture pOlish shades. My three shades are:

  • O’Hara, a gorgeous bright red crelly (cream/jelly) scattered holographic,
  • Electric Blue, a vampy midnight blue cream with a gorgeous blue shimmer ribbon through it,
  • and Ruby Blou, a red, white and blue glitter in a clear base.

All Blog Fest 2013 participants will be entered into the Blog Fest Awards to be eligible to win the incredible prize of creating a collaboration shade with piCture pOlish in 2014!!! There will be three winners, voted on by going to the special Pinterest Blog Fest 2013 board, with one voted on by piCture pOlish friends and fans, another voted on by all Blog Fest 2013 participants (bloggers), and a final award as selected by Jules and Megs, the creators of piCture pOlish! How incredible is that!

Without further ado, here is my creation using O’Hara, Electric Blue and Ruby Blou:

Having recently discovered a knack for (and love of) gradients, I took the risk of using the two bright and contrasting shades of Electric Blue and O’Hara in a sponged-on gradient, with a sparkly finish.

Now let’s look at how I created my piCture pOlish Blog Fest nail art!

1. Start by selecting your polishes for your gradient mani:

pp_blogfest2013_1polishes

2. Then gather all necessary tools. In my case, I laid out some foil over my work surface, a sponge (or two), a brush for clean-up, and an orangewood stick, if you require:

pp_blogfest2013_2prep

3. Apply base coat and paint your nails a base colour. I chose white as my clean, bare canvas:

pp_blogfest2013_3white

4. Once your white coat is dry, you can begin sponging! Using your foil work surface, drop your two polish shades (in my case, O’Hara and Electric Blue) side by side, almost touching. To better allow my contrasting colours to fade into each other, I added a drop of white between the two polishes to soften the edges. See photo.
You can blend the polish drops into each other slightly by using a toothpick, if you wish.
Now gently touch your sponge to the polish, and sponge onto your first nail. You may need to repeat multiple times on one nail in order to fully cover it.

5. Repeat sponging each nail until your nails are fully covered with the gradient, and you should have something like this when you’re finished:

6. Now the clean-up: dip your brush (I like to use a short, firm brush) into nail polish remover, dab on a paper towel to remove excess, and start wiping the edges of your nails and fingers to remove the polish. This is the most time-consuming part of a gradient mani, so be patient. Wipe your brush on your paper towel every few wipes to remove any colour, then dip and wipe again.

7. Add a coat of top coat to bring back the shine to your polish. (You can skip this step if adding a clear-base glitter, like I did.)

8. Add your chosen glitter polish, in my case, the spectacular, sparkly Ruby Blou.

9. Add a coat of quick-drying top coat…

…and voila!

As a final touch, taking a cue from Adele’s Louboutin-inspired tips, I decided to paint the underside of my nails in O’Hara:

After reading the press release for the new OSiS+ products Blow & Go, I knew I had to take them for a spin. I will try anything to reduce blowdry time of my long hair!! Especially this time of year when I often wash my hair daily (I know, so bad for your hair).

There are two blow-dry sprays for the perfect blow-dry: OSiS+ Blow & Go THICK provides hair with great volume and a glamorous shine, while OSiS+ Blow & Go SMOOTH provides sleek and luxurious smoothness.

OSIS

So how did they fare?

Both products come in a clear 200 ml spray bottle, misting a perfect, even spray. This may not sound like an important factor, but I always test sprays before buying a hair product – I’ve purchased too many with weak or faulty spray tops.

OSiS+ Blow & Go is easy to use: spray onto damp hair, blowdry and style as required. Not a lot of product is needed. The only negative for me at this stage was that the product has a bit of an alcohol/hair spray scent to it when you first apply it; however, the scent does dissipate once you blowdry, leaving behind a very faint hair product scent.

OSiS+ Blow & Go THICK makes your hair feel thicker, denser as you blowdry, and leaves behind visible volume. Who doesn’t love more volume! It also smoothes your hair with a touch of hold, eliminating the need for finishing products.

OSiS+ Blow & Go SMOOTH is very similar to THICK, minus the volume. Once you have blowdried, it feels more as though you quickly ran a hair straightener through your mane; it leaves behind a smooth, shiny, sleek finish, and helps eliminate frizz.

Overall verdict? Both OSiS+ Blow & Go sprays seemed to help reduce dry time a little, and I loved the finished feeling of my hair. I did not think that they would be very different, but as mentioned, they do provide a slight variation in finish. I personally prefer the volume THICK provides, but have loved how SMOOTH helped provide some control on high-humidity days.

OSiS+ Blow & Go is now available in Schwarzkopf Professional partner salons across Canada, for $21.00 Cdn/bottle. For further information please visit www.schwarzkopf-professional.com or www.press.henkel.com or visit the Facebook fan page!
