It’s piCture pOlish Thursday, and today I have for you another stunning Ozotic, one of the Beam polishes, #907!

Ozotic Beam is a collection of 4 gorgeous top coat-type polishes, “inspired by ‘reflecting luminous light beams’ hence the moonlight colours,” that at first glance all look similar:ย  white glass flecks with different shades of reflection in each polish. The Beam polishes can be worn alone or over black for an exploding effect “on your nail, reinventing itself to light changing crystals – simply amazing! A magical transformation in appearance that you need to see to believe!” from the piCture pOlish store’s description. : )ย  And 907 is described as having green and blue sparks, though I also see violet reflections in this beauty!

You want to know what I decided to layer this over? I decided to live on the edge a little and go with a gorgeous, summery shade from Nubar’s new My Sweet Escape collection. Nubar’s Jaded is a light turquoise, the colour of the ocean on a hot summer’s day…

And Ozotic Beam 907 did not disappoint!! It truly exploded in a three-dimensional effect on my nails, sparkling softly, the glass flecks dancing both in the sun and out. All this at just one coat over 2 coats of Nubar Jaded:

I love how beautiful the effect is, even over a lighter polish!! This to me, is a perfect summer manicure!

Look at that shine! And that deep, multichromatic shimmer really makes this manicure look like the sea….

Do you love this as much as I do? I am utterly obsessed with Jaded and 907 together! And what should I layer this over next….?

So today I am going to share a post that I’ve been wanting to write for a while… Some of my manicure and nail beauty regimen, in hopes that you will find it useful or even beneficial.

Please note: I am not a nail technician or a pro in any way, and don’t deem to be professional, but wanted to share some tips and tricks that work for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

Nails and Hands:

Many bloggers who focus on nails are often asked how we keep our cuticles tidy and pushed back. It’s not always easy, especially when you have cold, dry winters like we do in Canada! My number 1 tip is to use a good cuticle oil daily (at a minimum). Even better, keep a bottle or tube by your bed and at your workplace, if possible, so that you never have an excuse not to reach for it. : )ย  Two of my favourite products at the moment are Qtica Solid Gold Cuticle Oil Gel (less runny and more of a gel consistency) and California Mango Magic Cuticle Treatment Oil available at Sally Beauty (which also happens to smell deliciously fruity!).

On a weekly or biweekly basis, I also perform some cuticle maintenance, which includes removing or pushing back cuticles. Massage in a cream cuticle remover (I am currently using this one from Star Nail) after you’ve had a shower or bath, when cuticles are soft. Let it sit for 2 – 3 minutes, and using a sandstone cuticle eraser (like this one from Star Nail), gently start to push the cuticles back, toward the knuckles. I love that the cuticle removing cream helps to slough off dead skin/overgrown cuticles.

After washing hands, you can use your towel to gently push back cuticles once more. Utilizing the towel method alone is also great for those that don’t like using tools or nippers. Once my hands are dry, I sometimes do use cuticle nippers to cut only loose or hanging cuticle skin, nothing more! Please do not cut into your skin as that is very painful and can cause infections. (Trust me lol.)
My favourite thing to do next is to exfoliate my hands, using a hand scrub by brands like OPI, Qtica, or any line you prefer. I love the feeling of freshly exfoliated skin. : )

I generally also gently buff the nail surface after cuticle maintenance as I like to smooth the surface, especially where cuticles might have been. Want to take this a step further? Pour some olive oil in a hand soak bowl, enough to cover your nails and fingertips, and soak your nails in the nourishing oil for 5 or 10 minutes. Finish up by rubbing the olive oil into your smooth hands! (Note that this is not a good time to apply polish. If you need to polish, wash hands and rub a cotton pad with some alcohol over nail beds.)

Do you have ever get dry cuticles or skin around your nail? For that, I use a medium-roughness emery board, on dry skin only, near the nail without touching the nail bed. This is a golden trick that works like magic for me, especially when I am not at home and only have a nail file! Do not file your nail surface or sides as that will cause ridges and can damage the nail bed.

Make your manicure and hand care a part of your beauty routine, and you will see a difference in a short time. Most of all, remember that everyone, bloggers and nail pros included, gets hang nails, dry cuticles or nail chips!

Happy piCture pOlish Thursday!!

Today I bring you my second Ozotic Sugar, the first of which was Sugar 901, reviewed here.ย  piCture pOlish added the Ozotic brand to their portfolio, and late last year, introduced the Ozotic Sugars, four polishes numbered 901 through 904, each inspired by โ€œadding a tiny drop of food coloring to icing sugar โ€“ hence the sugary sweet looking colours.โ€ย  A family of topcoat-type polishes, they range in shades from pink to yellow-green, and really are sweet-looking!

While Sugar 901 was a sugary pink duochrome, Ozotic Sugar 903 is an azure blue that shifts to a pinkish purple. The sparkling tiny duochrome glass flecks are what create the wow in the Sugar series, reflecting light in every direction possible, dancing in gorgeous harmony on your nails.

While I layered Sugar 901 over a blackened base, I wanted to play with 903. I finally settled on this beautiful cerulean base, Dusk Till Dawn, one of Nubar’s new My Sweet Escape collection. (And can that name be any more perfect??)ย  If you know me, you know that blue is one of my favourite colours, even though I often shy away from it on my nails.

I think this may be the manicure to change my mind!!! Look at the incredible beauty of Ozotic Sugar 903 over Nubar’s Dusk Till Dawn!

That is just one coat of Sugar 903 over 2 coats of Dusk TIll Dawn.

Please tell me that is not dreamy?

Here is one more shot, this time in artificial light:

I am totally obsessed with the Ozotic Sugars, and can’t wait to get my hands on the other two! I think this combination may be my new obsession. ๐Ÿ˜‰
